The labels
The original 1st UK issue Orange / purple Atlantic labels are in awesome condition! Feature “Under Licence…” Across the labels (only 1st press) I struggle to see no more than a handful of spider trails around the spindle hole. Little if (no) spindle ware, the hole is perfectly round. This has only ever been played barely a handful of times only. A rare album that is over 52 years old! Impossible to find like this on vinyl! very very collectable!
The vinyl is absolutely superbe! On initial visual inspection this looks superb Near Mint in my opinion! and still retains its sheen from new and is free of any warping and lays flat on the turntable. (please note this vinyl has only ever been played by me personally just a couple of times only! in the last 50 years this has been stored in a case with the vinyl separated from the sleeve and cover, this is how I have always stored my records In fact even when I look at the playing surface angled to a strong light there are just perhaes minor sleeve removal only. Importantly there are no audio sounding marks or blemishes that I can see at all! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal only!
The Audio Quality
I have played this through track for track prior to listing at very very loud volume on a top system! The moment the needle hits the playing surface it is obvious this vinyl has barely ever been played at all in my opinion! The audio quality is as you would expect from a vinyl that has barely been played, superbe, TOP, TOP, TOP! crystal clear and extremely vibrant through out in fact this plays as a new vinyl would sound in my opinion! Please note that this vinyl has been laying dormant in a case since I purchased it and will need a constant clean before each play to reduce any static or crackle. This played through as perfect as it gets unbelievable audio separation, that I haven’t heard like this before and stunning bassey feel throughout on my systems! This vinyl has been stored separately from the cover in a poly sleeve for all of its storage life! This is the way I always have stores my records! The audio on this pressing in my opinion is almost as good as it gets for a very early and the 1st pressing! Even in between tracks this is almost quiet with just light static due to needing a constant cleaning in my opinion ! This is the I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl. Please check my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! I would grade the audio at least Excellent plus to Near as mint through out!
Please note! That i always make this disclaimer! That although I never heard any loud clicks or pops during the play of this record please allow for the odd static/ tick or pop , certainly not consistent throughout the audio, but this is a genuine 52 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 52 year old system!
Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 50 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static crackle\ticks! A constant clean before each play is recommended ! This would reduce any static and enhance the audio quality! There was isolated light static tick heard which will be reduced if cleaned each time before play. The vinyl has only been ever played one time by me!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original poly lined paper record sleeve becoming fragile with age. Light browning/creasing only. This has always been stored separately from the vinyl for protection!
The Cover
This is the original and earliest 1st UK press un- laminated MacNeil Press cover! These flimsy type 1st issue covers are very difficult to keep in good condition! There are no splits or tears! Rare to find without ring wear No nasty creases on the front or rear any that there are, are feint and minor at the front only and you have to really look for angled to the light to notice in my opinion. Rare to find in this awesome condition super straight in general appearance (see photos) . All text is fully legible at the spine. Truly remarkable for 52 years old! I would grade the cover at least better than excellent in my opinion!
Audio Archive copy vinyl looks barely ever played Collectors audio copy!
