Argent Circus 1975 Original UK Press Epic Labels
Complete With Insert Cat No. S EPC 80691
Circus is the sixth studio album of Argent, released in 1975 by Epic and distributed by CBS.
It was the last album as part of their contract with CBS Records and the firsts after the departure of founding member/lead vocalist/guitarist Russ Ballard.
New lead vocalist John Verity was added at the recommendation of Ballard (Verity’s band had supported Argent during their previous tour and had impressed Ballard).
The album was recorded during an intense session after the new line up of the band workshopped and practiced the material written largely by Rod Argent (bassist Jim Rodford wrote “Trapeze”). Prior to this album Argent had been working with his songwriting collaborator Chris White (the duo had written songs together and separately in The Zombies) on material for the band. The band quickly followed up with a second album Counterpoints the same year (1975)for RCA Records which has yet to be officially released on CD or in digital form

The Vinyl:
This is the original thick heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings. On visual inspection I can’t see any needle scratches or indeed any marks that would cause any clicks or pops. Any marks that could possibly be seen angled in strong light would be light whyspy sleeve removal type only. The playing surface is lovely.
The Audio Quality:
I have played this vinyl at very loud volume prior to this listing on a top system. The audio is cristal clear and vibrant through out no distortion or any signs of groove wear at all. I heard no clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl. Lovely sounding copy. Audio graded at near mint in my opinion.
The Matrix:
Side 1″A-1″
Side 2″B-1″
The Labels:
These are the original 1st issue Yellow Epic labels (correct for this early pressing) Any spidering can barely be seen angled to the light and there is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round. This has obviously only had very minimal play in my opinion.
The Record Sleeve:
This is the original plain white patented paper sleeve.
The Lyric Sheet
This is the original picture lyric sheet as new.
The Cover:
This is the original 1st issue Shorewood Packaging cover un laminated. There are no creases on the front or rear to mention this is nice and straight as it should be. no edge splits or tares. This cover is lovely I would grade this at least excellent plus in my opinion.
