The Five Faces of Manfred Mann is the first studio album by British beat/R&B group Manfred Mann. It was first released in the United Kingdom on 11 September 1964 by His Master’s Voice. In late October/early November, the album was released in Canada by Capitol Records. The Canadian track listing was almost the same as the UK version, except it included the hit “Do Wah Diddy Diddy” instead of “I’ve Got My Mojo Working”. The record has been called “one of the great blues-based British invasion albums; it’s a hot, rocking record that benefits from some virtuoso playing as well” The American version of the album (their second U.S. release following The Manfred Mann Album) was released in February 1965 by Ascot Records (a subsidiary of United Artists) with a very different track listing.

The Vinyl:
This is the original thick heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings. On visual inspection I can’t see any needle scratches or indeed any marks that would cause any loud annoying clicks or pops. Any marks that could possibly be seen angled in strong light would be light whyspy surface scuffs and or sleeve removal type only. The playing surface is lovely for 49 years old.

The Audio Quality:
I have played this vinyl at very loud volume prior to this listing on a top system. Importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge. The audio is cristal clear and vibrant through out no distortion or any signs of groove wear at all. I heard no loud clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl. Lovely sounding copy. Audio graded at least excellent to excellent plus for the most part in my opinion.

The Matrix:
Side 1″2XEA 2575-1N”
Side 2″2XEA 2576-1N

The Mother Stampers:
Side 1 “1” “T” (Look Earliest “1””1” Mother Stampers)
Side 2 “1” “GG” (Look Earliest “1””1” Mother Stampers)

The Labels:
These are the original 1st issue His Masters Voice Labels: feature “Sold In The UK….” text across the labels (only 1st press) K.T. tax code is stamped on side 1 (correct for this early pressing) Any spidering is minimal only can be seen angled to the light and there is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round. This has obviously only had very minimal play in my opinion.

The Record Sleeve:
This is the original advertising HMV record sleeve light creasing, browning, becoming fragile with age only.

The Cover:
This is the original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse flip back cover laminated front only. There are no real nasty creases on the front to mention any creases are minor small half moon type only this is nice and straight as it should be. no edge splits or tares. Amaizingly  The rear is also lovely. This cover is like it just came out of the shop in my opinion. I would grade this at least excellent in my opinion.

Summery:
Excellent condition for an earliest original 49 years old like this.
