Uriah Heep Demons And Wizards 1st UK Press Island Mint Audio
Uriah Heep Demons And Wizards Cat No. ILPS 9193 Island labels 1975 1st UK Pressing Original Near Mint Audio
Demons and Wizards is the fourth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep. The album helped the band break to fame and also gave the band its face. It has become a major success worldwide by selling 3 million copies.
The original vinyl release was a gatefold sleeve, the front of which was designed by Roger Dean and contains a hidden erotic image of male and female genitalia.
The inner of the gatefold had pictures of the band and notes by Ken Hensley, whilst the LP itself was housed in a liner on which were printed the lyrics. The songs “The Wizard” and “Easy Livin'” were released as singles in the United Kingdom and North America, as well as many other markets. “Easy Livin'” entered the US Top 40 at No. 39, making it Heep’s first and only American hit. “Easy Livin'” was also a mega hit in the Netherlands and Germany, countries which were becoming a strong market for the band. It reached a disappointing No. 75 in Australia.

The Vinyl:
This is the original thick heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings. On visual inspection I can’t see any needle scratches or indeed any marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops. Any other marks that could possibly be seen angled in strong light would be light whyspy sleeve removal type only.
The Audio Quality:
I have played this vinyl at very loud volume prior to this listing on a top system. The audio is cristal clear and vibrant through out no distortion or any signs of groove wear at all. I heard no loud clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl. Lovely sounding copy. Audio graded at least excellent to excellent plus through out in my opinion.
The Matrix:
Side 1″86185 A-1″
Side 2″86185 B-1″
The Labels:
These are the original 1st issue ISLAND Labels: minimal spidering can be seen angled to the light and there is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round. This has obviously only had very minimal play in mt opinion.
The Record Sleeve:
This is a plain white paper sleeve, becoming fragile with age at the edges only.
The Cover:
This is the original 1st issue Robor Ltd gate fold cover. Amaizingly there are no creases to mention. This is nice and straight as it should be. no edge splits or tares. There is light general rubbing ware or marks to mention only. The rear is also clean with no creases. This cover is graded at least excellent if better. No splits or tares..
Summery:
A fantastic album and a real classic very collectable being earliest 1st UK pressing.
