1962–1966 (also known as “The Red Album”) is a compilation record of songs by the English rock band The Beatles, spanning the years indicated in the title. Released with its counterpart 1967–1970 (“The Blue Album”) in 1973, it reached number 3 in the United Kingdom and number 1 in the United States Cashbox albums chart. However, in the US, the official chart was administered by Billboard, where 1962–1966 peaked at number 3, while 1967–1970 reached the top spot. This album was re-released in September 1993 on compact disc, charting at number 3 in the UK.
The album was compiled by Beatles manager Allen Klein.Even though the group had had success with cover versions of songs, most notably with “Twist and Shout”, which made number 2 on the Billboard charts, only songs composed by the Beatles themselves were included. Along with its 1967–1970 counterpart, it compiles every single A-side released by the band in the UK.

The Vinyls:
These are the original thick heavier chunky slab of vinyls only found like this on the earliest pressings. On visual inspection I can’t see any needle scratches at all just the odd isolated surface scuff can be seen only.. Any other marks that could possibly be seen angled in strong light would be light whyspy sleeve removal type only. The playing surface is in general, lovely.
The Audio Quality:
I have not played the vinyls but visually I would expect at least excellent grade for the most part. Perhapes some static type ticks may be heard where there are isolated scuffs only. All in all the playing surfaces look nice. If you want me to play grade this album Please contact me for a request.

The Labels:
These are the original 1st issue Apple Labels: Any spidering can barely be seen angled to the light and there is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round. This has obviously only had very minimal play in mt opinion.
The Record Sleeves:
These are the original red lyric sleeves becoming fragine with age beginning to split at the edges now the vinyls are stored separately from the sleeves.
The Cover:
This is the original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse flip back cover laminated gate fold cover. There are no real nasty creases to mention this is nice and straight as it should be. no edge splits There is a small tear aprox 1cm at the opening edge on the front. I would grade this at least excellent if not better in my opinion.
Summery:
For any Beatles fans these originals are becoming very collectable.
