Rainbow Rising Cat No: Delux 2490 137 Oyster Polydor Labels 1976
Rising (also known as Rainbow Rising) is the second studio album by the British hard rock band Rainbow, released in 1976. In issue 4 of Kerrang! magazine (cover-dated October 1981), Rising was voted the greatest heavy metal album of all time. In 2017, it was ranked 48th at Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time”.
Band leader Ritchie Blackmore retained only Ronnie James Dio from the previous album line-up, and recruited drummer Cozy Powell, bassist Jimmy Bain and keyboard player Tony Carey to complete the roster.
Recorded in Munich in less than a month, the album was overseen by rock producer and engineer Martin Birch. The band was originally billed as Blackmore’s Rainbow in the US.
The vinyl
This is the original thicker heavier type of vinyl only found like this on the original 1st pressings. The record lays perfectly flat on the turntable. On visual inspection this has only minimal play in my opinion. There are no scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops. Any surface marks /scuffs seen are mainly sleeve removal only.
The Labels
These are the original Oyster/Polydor labels (Only 1st UK Pressings) there is minimal spider traces around the spindle hole.
The Audio Quality
I have played the album and fully recorded it. The audio is stunning clear and vibrant throughout. Only heard like this on the earliest pressings. There are no loud constant clicks or pops. Light isolated static type ticks may be heard only. Audio graded at Excellent Plus to Very Near Mint Throughout.
The cover
This is the original 1st issue un laminated gatefold cover. Printed by MacNeil Press. (Only 1st UK Press) This is strong and straight and very difficult to find in this condition after 42 years. Light storagewear rubbing only. No splits or tears. Graded at least excellent if not better in my opinion. All text is readable.
