The Beatles Please Please Me Album 1st UK Pressing Mono
Featured here “The Beatles Please Please Me” Album 1st UK Pressed in Mono from my personal collection of Beatles albums that I have acumilated over a period of more than 45 years. I have over 1000 Beatles UK albums and this is one of my prized possesions. To have and own an original 1st UK pressing of the Beatles debut mono album released in 1962 is a Beatles collectors dream, especially in this condition.
Side 1.”XEX 421-1N”
Side 2. ”XEX 422-1N”
The Mother Stampers
Side 1.”1” ”A” (LOOK! ”1” to 1” Stampers pressed from the earliest mother!!)
Side 2. ”1” ”GR” (LOOK! ”1” to 1” Stampers pressed from the earliest mother!!)
Unique Qualities of this 1st issue!
Of course the first thing to note is that this 1st issue features the Gold & Black Parlophone labels, but only the 1st issues have ”Dick James Mus Co” publishing credits for the tracks ”Please Please Me”, ”I Saw Her Standing There”,”Misery”,Do You Want To Know A Secret” and ”There’s A Place” later 2nd issues feature these tracks credited to Northern songs!
The other important feature of this earliest issue is the cover! These are thick card type covers printed by Earnest J Day & Co ltd these are laminated at the front only and feature the tri flipbacks at the rear! Importantly only the earliest issues feature the text ”Photo By Angus McBean” furthest to the right, than later subsequent issues (notice from my photos that the beginning of this text starts just after the ‘S” above) this is only seen on these early issues, I have often seen these swapped for later 4th press covers. This cover is correct and the original earliest issue!
