Simon and Andy at Brook guitars, were kind enough to take photos for me during the build process of my Tamar fanned fret guitar. Below are just a few of the photos from the batch.

The Woods Used

Zircote: The dark wood for the back and sides.
Badouke: used for the red insert at the back
Anjan: The Fretboard and the bridge;
Sitka: Spruce: The front:
Anjan: Bridge.
Stained Bone: Nut Saddle:
Mahogony: The Neck.

Brook Guitar Tavy Fan Fret in Blender Cycles

Here is my second attempt at modelling a guitar in Blender cycles. This one is my Brook Custom fan Fretted Tavy. The first guitar that I had made for me by Brook guitars.
It was a lot quicker for me this time around because the guitar is mainly symetrical in shape as opposed to the first guitar that I modelled. I am getting to grips with the smoothing tecniques. The image here shows the guitar rendered with a curtain draped background that I was able to achieve using the cloth simulation in Cycles render engine.

The next two images show the similar setup as the first image but with a different colour added to the cutain background.

Brook Guitars New Redesigned Website Now Live!

Mootzproductions are proud and honoured to redesign Brookguitars website. Brook guitars, makers of fine handmade guitars, are based in the heart Devon’s West country.
They have produced some of the most beautiful guitars that I have ever seen.
The woods are generally sourced locally and each instrument individual, uniquely handcrafted to Brooks typical highest quality. Their guitars not only look beautiful but the many musicians own testaments can be read all over the Web, show that the sound quality and clarity that their guitars produce put Brook Guitars on the map as one of the top British guitar luthiers in my opinion.

Please take a look at their website to view a range of some of their guitar models available and made to order. Any model can be uniquely customised for the individual. The models are named after Westcountry rivers.

The News section displays the latest news and updates along with a news archive section which displays news each year going back more than a decade.

There are some downloadable pdf files for their occasional news feed ‘The Babbling Brook’ can be found at the bottom of the Home page.

This project has been especially enjoyable and a real pleasure to help Simon and Andy produce a platform to show the world some of the great instruments that they have made for many satisfied customers over the past twenty years or more.

Brook Guitar Project Modelling in Blender Cycles

Here are some images of my attempt to model my Custom Brook Tamar acoustic guitar using Blender Cycles software. This is my first attempt and it has been a great learning curve for me and very enjoyable,frustrating and great fun indeed. Of course I would have done things a little differently and taken a slightly different approach the next time around. But overall I am quite pleased with the outcome.
Below are some screenshots as I progressed through the different stages of the modelling process.

FA-66: Audio: FireWire With Mac OSX

I have been using the FA-66 Audio FireWire interface primarily with my Macbook Pro on the OSX operating system with Logic Pro for over three years now.
It has been perfect for me because I am often mobile and on the road it has been robust and I have had no problems at all using this.

I love the solid metal case construction the build quality has proved the test of time. The Fa-66 has FireWire bus power. It has Zero-Latency Direct Monitoring which means that I can listen to audio being recorded directly without using any other software. The Direct Monitoring function allows the input to go straight to the output for zero-latency monitoring. The FA-66 also offers ultra low latency when monitoring through software or performing with software synths through the Apple CoreAudio driver.
The Edirol FA-66 has always been reliable and offered excellent audio .

FireWire Connection Perfect For Mobile Use.

It’s great because whilst using this mobile it can be powered by connecting one FireWire (6-pin to 6-pin) cable to my laptop. There is also an option to ower the unit with an AC adaptor if need be.

My Bose L1 Series II PA System Easy To Setup

All In One Unit.

The main reason that I love the Bose L1 Model II is that it is an all in one innovative system, that replaces conventional monitors, mixers and PA speakers.This system provides astounding uniform sound coverage of nearly 180 degrees not only onstage but throughout an audience of up to several hundred, but here is the big plus, with little drop off in volume and tone quality.

Ease of setup.

The complete system can easily fit in to the boot of a car and is very compact and comes with special heavy duty custom padded carrying cases that are extremely durable. The great thing about this system is that there is minimal trailing leads, no spare cables and it is very straight forward to set up.

From the moment that I arrive at a gig the system can be completely set up and ready in less that five minutes. The complete system weighs 38.1 kg and could be carried back a forth on your own, in two trips which can be a big plus if you are working in some rough areas and don’t want to take a risk of leaving equipment unattended for any length of time in a car or a van.

The speakers.

The 24 built in individual speakers are arranged using Articulated Array speaker technology in a slim, vertical enclosure—creating nearly 180 degrees of horizontal coverage and consistent tonal balance.
